CHHS Mourns the Passing of Donald “Doc” Lumpkins, Emergency Management Pioneer
CHHS Founder and Director Michael Greenberger released the following statement on the passing of Donald “Doc” Lumpkins:
The entire staff of the University of Maryland Center for Health and Homeland Security (CHHS) mourns the untimely passing of our colleague, mentor and good friend Donald “Doc” Lumpkins. We are forever in his debt, because when at MEMA in late 2002, he awarded us our first major contract that served as the foundation of our growth and success over these many years. Doc maintained a close working and collegial relationship with us throughout. He exemplified the height of professionalism, competence and good cheer in the field of emergency management. We remain grateful for, and feel very blessed by, our strong bond with him. He will be very much missed.
