Policy Analyst
Arlene Owusu Gyimah, is a graduate of The University of Texas at Dallas, where she earned her Master of Public Policy (MPP). Arlene’s passion for policy and advocacy, particularly for marginalized communities, led to her selection for the prestigious Graduate Archer Fellowship Program in Washington, D.C. During her time as an Archer Fellow, she developed a comprehensive policy proposal aimed at increasing access to federal early care and education programs for low-income immigrant families. She also contributed to strategic advocacy efforts, drafting policy briefs and conducting targeted outreach to policymakers and stakeholders.
Arlene is currently a Policy Analyst with the District of Columbia Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency (HSEMA), where she collaborates with the CHHS team on critical policy initiatives.
Arlene also brings experience from her time as an Immigration Specialist at Berry Appleman & Leiden LLP, where she managed a diverse caseload of immigration matters, including H-1B, L-1, and TN visa petitions. In this role, she provided comprehensive case management, ensured compliance with U.S. immigration regulations, and worked closely with corporate clients to meet their immigration needs. Her work at BAL allowed her to develop strong expertise in visa processing and case strategy, making her a skilled advocate for clients navigating the complexities of U.S. immigration law.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Arlene is dedicated to mentoring others and remains a strong advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of her work.
